Interpolations… ?

Phyllis Stark has a byline in Country Aircheck this week asking the question about the validity of song “interpolations”. That is when songwriters take an existing song (usually has been a big hit) and they use it (giving credit to the original writers) and they write a new song using that original song. An example of this is Cole Swindell’s song, She Had Me At Heads Carolina. If you can access the article, there are several songwriters and producers interviewed. I have a couple of things to say on the subject. ONE is… we need more ideas and better ideas for songs for 2024!! Keep writing, keep thinking, keep creating.
